Craplets
Most PC vendors continue the practice of selling space on your new computer to vendors for loading restricted trial versions of software and ads for Web sites and services. These craplets are difficult to uninstall and leave entrails that will live in your new computer until you reinstall the operating system. My standard practice before moving to a Mac was to insert the OS CD, boot the machine, and do a fresh install, thus avoiding the craplets.
Read more about craplets in the Wall Street Journal posting Using Even New PCs Is Ruined by a Tangle Of Trial Programs, Ads.
