I‘m lusting after the new Apple 8-Core MacPro.

What seems like long, long ago, I enjoyed running my stuff on 32 processor Sequent UNIX boxes. Each processor was substandard compared to todays chips. Yet, being able to fork several processes connected by pipes, was a really quick way of utilizing SMP (Symmetric multiprocessing).

Fortunately, some contemporary products I use everyday for rendering vivid photographs, such as Adobe Photoshop and DXO Labs software, take advantae of SMP. My workflow would be much faster with the Intel 8-Core box compared to my G4 2-Core box.
