Grim Greed
The outlook for the music industry greed mongers is grim, so says the Forbes posting Grim Outlook for Music Biz. The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) isn’t helping by suing grannies and making wrong moves as described in the New York Times opinion piece Spinning Into Oblivion.
The outlook for Hollywood isn’t much better, so says the Techdirt posting Hollywood Still Hasn’t Figured Out That You Can’t Win At The Takedown Whack-A-Mole Game.
These are just the latest example of the Hollywood and music industry greed mongers getting it wrong. They fight tooth and nail anything that comes along that looks like it may upset their cash cows. They battle change again and again, and fatten politicians, until they realize what they are battling isn’t going away. Then they come to their senses and figure out how to control the new way of doing business, and how to expand their greed.
Unfortunately for the greed mongers, getting control of the disruptive Internet isn’t in the cards. I think their reign of greed mongering will soon be a shadow of its former self. It’s about time!
